Dhadak 2 featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, is facing delays due to concerns from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) regarding its portrayal of caste discrimination. The film, which has encountered a significant roadblock, was initially scheduled for release in November 2024 but was later pushed to 2025. Current reports indicate a potential release during the Holi weekend, which is just three weeks away. However, promotional activities for the movie have yet to commence.

Siddhant Chaturvedi-Triptii Dimri’s Dhadak 2 In Trouble with CBFC

According to a report from Bollywood Hungama, the film’s content has raised certification issues with the CBFC. A source revealed, “Dhadak 2 addresses caste-related themes and is intended to be a thought-provoking narrative. While the Examining Committee commended the filmmakers for tackling such a topic, they are currently deliberating on the appropriate rating and whether any scenes need to be cut.”

A trade expert noted that the creators of Dhadak 2 are awaiting the completion of the CBFC certification process before launching their promotional campaign. If the film receives clearance, it is expected to be released on March 14; otherwise, a postponement may be necessary.

Interestingly, Dhadak 2 is a remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal, which faced no issues with CBFC approval. An insider questioned, “If Pariyerum Perumal didn’t encounter any obstacles, why is Dhadak 2 subjected to such scrutiny?”

When the motion poster for Dhadak 2 was released, it subtly hinted at the film’s caste-centered narrative with the tagline.“Ek tha raja, ek thi rani. Jaat alag thi, khatam kahani,” indicating a love story impacted by caste differences. The poster also featured the phrase “Dalit Lives Matter,” emphasizing the film’s social commentary.
